Closure of our LTL division

In a recent information session with employees, Groupe Boutin president Bernard Boutin announced that the group will be shutting down its LTL division.

With all of the challenges in today’s transport industry, the Boutin family has been forced to make a decision about the company’s future. “The transportation industry is experiencing rapid change. Clients are more demanding, the technology is evolving, and labor is harder to come by. So it’s increasingly hard for companies to stand out without making some choices. We have to adapt to the current economic reality and make internal changes to reposition the company. I can tell you that we’ve looked at the situation from every angle. It’s been a very tough call. But we feel that this really is the most logical way forward,” said Bernard Boutin.

By refocusing the company’s activities around its four core divisions—Dedicated Transport, TL Transport, Logistic Services, and Warehousing and Distribution—Groupe Boutin is looking to further specialize and generate growth in those areas of operation. Clients that are used to doing business with Groupe Boutin will continue to enjoy the same high standard of service for their road transportation and distribution needs.

Added Group Boutin’s president, “We are obviously deeply saddened by the loss of jobs that this entails and are doing everything possible to mitigate the negative effects on our employees. This includes setting up a professional team and keeping my door open to assist everyone afffected.”

Groupe Boutin’s trucks have been moving freight on North America’s roads and highways for over 70 years. The group runs a network of business locations and warehouses in Quebec and Ontario out of its head office in Plessisville. It employs 350 people and has a fleet of over 630 trucks and trailers.
